Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its commitment to excellence and innovation. Among its diverse portfolio of brands, Courtyard by Marriott stands out as a premier hotel designed specifically for business travelers. Located in Clive, Iowa, the Courtyard offers a vibrant and welcoming environment that caters to the needs of both business and leisure guests. The hotel prides itself on delivering outstanding customer service and creating memorable experiences for every visitor. This establishment operates with a strong emphasis on professionalism, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, fostering a workplace culture that values diversity and the unique strengths of each team member.

The role available at the Courtyard by Marriott in Clive is for a full-time Night Auditor position, a critical function that supports the seamless operation of the hotel's overnight shift. This non-management position offers a competitive hourly wage of $17.00 and is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, detail-oriented environments. The Night Auditor is responsible for completing end-of-day activities, including posting charges to guest accounts, running the night audit backup, and rolling the date to ensure accurate financial reporting. This person processes various payment methods such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, and credit cards, as well as handling adjustment vouchers and miscellaneous charges.

In addition to financial duties, the Night Auditor plays a key role in guest services by selling available rooms to walk-in guests, operating the telephone switchboard, and providing wake-up call services. The position requires printing contingency lists to maintain records of all guests for emergency preparedness and completing the Room Rate Variance Report. The successful candidate will also be responsible for processing guest check-ins, assigning rooms, activating or reissuing room keys, counting the bank at the end of the shift, and securing the bank according to accounting specifications.

Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of materials and work areas is essential to uphold the hotel's high standards. The Night Auditor must also report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management immediately. Strong communication skills are vital, as the role involves welcoming guests, anticipating their needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and handling phone calls with professionalism and courtesy. Collaborative teamwork and adherence to quality assurance standards are emphasized to ensure a positive and efficient work environment.

Physical demands of the role include the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds, as well as reaching overhead and below the knees through various physical movements such as bending and stooping. The position entails standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and performing other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

At Courtyard by Marriott, employees are encouraged to grow and develop professionally in a supportive setting, becoming part of a global team committed to hospitality excellence. Joining this team means embracing Marriott International's values of equality, diversity, and inclusion, working in a place where you can do your best work, belong, and grow into the best version of yourself.
