TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center is a respected healthcare institution located in Rutherford County, Tennessee. As a 100-bed hospital, it provides comprehensive medical services including emergency care, surgical procedures, and specialized treatment for adults and children. The role of NICU Nurse Manager at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit's daily operations and staffing. This role is critical in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care by managing and evaluating nursing services to align with established policies and clinical outcomes. The NICU Nurse Manager will work closely with clinical staff to implement evidence-based practices, promote patient safety, and maintain standards of care that support the facility's objectives.

This management position demands expertise in neonatal care along with skills in personnel management, including recruiting, hiring, and training nursing staff. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety within the unit. Leadership abilities are essential, as the role involves coaching, counseling, and providing consistent support to nursing personnel. The manager is expected to handle patient, visitor, and physician concerns professionally and promptly while collaborating with other departments to enhance patient care delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing or RN diploma required
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required
  • 3 years of related clinical experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in nursing or RN diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required
  • 3 years of related clinical experience required
  • Prior related clinical leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) strongly preferred

Job Duties

  • Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served
  • Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members
  • Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff
  • Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list
  • Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels
  • Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations
  • Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner
  • Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery
