Job Description

Saint Vincent's Medical Center (SVMC) is a prominent 473-bed tertiary academic medical center located along the picturesque Connecticut shoreline in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Renowned for its comprehensive neurological services, SVMC is designated as a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, highlighting its dedication to delivering exceptional stroke care. The medical center is actively expanding its advanced stroke treatment capabilities, including Endovascular Thrombectomy and complex hemorrhagic stroke management, positioning itself as a leader in neurological healthcare within the region. The hospital not only serves a diverse patient population with various neurological conditions but also fosters an academic environment conducive to clinical education and research. Opportunities at SVMC emphasize a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to healthcare that integrates specialized expertise, innovative technology, and compassionate patient care.

We are seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Neurohospitalists to join our dedicated team focused on acute stroke care. This role involves providing inpatient consultations and managing care for emergency department patients and hospitalized individuals with neurological conditions, particularly stroke. The ideal candidate will have a vascular neurology fellowship or equivalent experience and be comfortable with acute stroke protocols, including thrombolytic decision-making and endovascular thrombectomy procedures. In addition to clinical duties, neurohospitalists will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on teaching and clinical supervision of residents, medical students, fellows, and advanced practice providers. This role includes limited outpatient responsibilities through follow-up visits in the Stroke Clinic, which operates within a transitional care model supported by stroke nurse navigators and advanced practice providers.

The position also offers involvement in neurology didactic sessions, grand rounds, and a monthly Neurohospitalist Lecture Series to promote continuous medical education. Optional participation in clinical research, including STROKENET and industry-sponsored trials, quality improvement initiatives, patient experience projects, educational lectures, and professional outreach is encouraged. Faculty appointments are available through the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, further enhancing academic and professional development.

Bridgeport’s community setting complements professional life with its proximity to New York City—approximately 60 minutes away—while offering access to some of New England's most desirable coastal, suburban, and urban environments. Families and physicians benefit from nationally recognized schools, vibrant cultural events, and year-round recreational opportunities. Whether settling along the shoreline or in nearby suburban neighborhoods, the location offers an exceptional blend of professional opportunity and quality of life, making it an attractive setting for healthcare providers and their families.
