The AmeriCorps Field Crew positions at CCMI offer a unique and fulfilling opportunity for individuals passionate about conservation, outdoor work, and community service. These roles serve as hands-on conservation stewards working outdoors to restore natural habitats, manage natural resources effectively, and respond promptly to natural disasters or community emergencies. The Field Crew program is designed not only to accomplish vital environmental projects but also to foster personal and professional development by delivering comprehensive training and leadership growth opportunities. Field Crew members gain practical skills in invasive species management, stream bank stabilization and erosion control, prescribed burns, trail construction and maintenance, tree planting, basic carpentry, wildland fire suppression, and emergency response. These activities take place across diverse settings, from urban parks to remote wilderness locations, with up to 90 percent of assignments requiring members to travel and camp for multiple consecutive days in varying weather conditions.

Working with CCMI's AmeriCorps Field Crews offers participants an immersive, team-oriented experience that challenges physical endurance and hones technical skills critical for conservation careers. Members are supported by experienced AmeriCorps Crew Leaders and Regional Managers who provide guidance, mentorship, and safety oversight throughout the term. The program emphasizes safety, teamwork, and flexibility while nurturing a positive attitude toward community service and environmental stewardship. Participants benefit from a robust training curriculum that includes teamwork and conflict resolution, leadership development, fire fighter certification, first aid and CPR, invasive species management, plant identification, and safety practices related to power tools and defensive driving.

This position is structured as a full-time AmeriCorps service role with a monthly living allowance between $2,400 and $2,600. Members commit to completing their full term according to the Member Service Agreement, typically dedicating at least 40 hours per week to service. Crews generally work Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with mandatory breaks included. Opportunities also exist for emergency response assignments that may require extended deployment during wildfire season or other critical situations.
