Job Description
City Winery is a renowned national entertainment and hospitality company that masterfully combines the artistry of wine, music, and culinary experiences to deliver an unparalleled cultural destination. Established by music industry veteran Michael Dorf, City Winery offers a unique blend of a fully operating winery, intimate live music venues, food and wine education classes, private event spaces, and fine dining, all wrapped into one sophisticated entertainment experience. Since its founding in 2008, City Winery has grown into a dynamic brand recognized for its commitment to community, creativity, and hospitality. It appeals to a cultured clientele of food enthusiasts, wine lovers, and music patrons who seek high-end, memorable experiences that bring the essence of wine country into vibrant city settings across the country. The company operates core locations in key cities including Hudson Valley, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, and Nashville, as well as Pier 57 restaurants, all delivering consistent quality and unique charm.
The role of National Beverage Director at City Winery is a senior leadership position with significant responsibility and influence. This role is pivotal to the strategic direction, execution, and overall performance of the beverage programs at all City Winery locations nationwide. Reporting to executive leadership, the National Beverage Director is the driving force behind beverage service standards, inventory and ordering systems, vendor and winery partnerships, wine education, and beverage menu development. This role commands the highest standards for guest experience, operational excellence, financial accountability, and brand integrity across all beverage offerings—covering wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
As a senior leader, the National Beverage Director partners closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Culinary, Winery, Programming, and Finance to optimize revenue, enhance service culture, and uphold City Winery's reputation as a premier food, wine, and entertainment destination. Key responsibilities include setting the national beverage strategy aligned with business goals, leading beverage operations in a multi-unit environment, ensuring consistent and exemplary beverage service through rigorous standards and audits, managing national inventory and cost controls, cultivating vendor relationships, and spearheading innovative beverage education and programming initiatives.
Candidates for this role should have over a decade of progressive leadership experience in high-volume, multi-unit hospitality environments with proven success managing beverage programs on a national or regional scale. Advanced wine education credentials such as CMS or WSET are strongly preferred. Expertise in inventory management, financial forecasting, vendor negotiation, and menu development is essential. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities, including team mentoring and development, fostering a high-performance service culture, and a passion for elevating guest experiences. Regular national travel is expected for overseeing multiple locations.
City Winery offers a competitive annual salary range of $100,000 to $130,000 depending on experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The company embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring a welcoming workplace for all employees. This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative industry leader on the forefront of redefining live music and hospitality, where passion for wine, food, and entertainment converge into extraordinary experiences.
