The Food & Beverage Multi-Unit Manager II position at HMSHost is a pivotal leadership role that functions as an intermediary between the Senior or Director of Operations and multiple restaurant locations within a designated zone or terminal. This role requires overseeing operational, financial, and staffing standards across several restaurants, ensuring that they are clean, staffed, and ready for business each day. The Multi-Unit Manager II holds General Managers accountable for day-to-day operations, promoting high standards for service quality and operational excellence. This position demands broad discretion and excellent leadership judgment to make decisions that impact multiple units, coordinating with various teams to maintain seamless operations.
In this capacity, the manager ensures that all aspects of operations from opening and closing procedures to staffing, training, and financial management are executed efficiently. They schedule managers to maintain leadership coverage throughout operational hours, engage in hiring and termination decisions, and foster an environment of employee engagement and inclusion. The role also involves managing inventory and product availability, ensuring equipment functionality, and minimizing waste while participating in food donation initiatives.
Moreover, the Multi-Unit Manager II champions the adoption of technology, ensures compliance with brand and landlord standards, and develops strategies to increase revenue. Job Requirements
- Must have documented and demonstrated experience managing multiple restaurant types within the zone
- Minimum of 3 years concurrent multi-unit multi-concept management experience for small zones or 5 years for large zones
- Overall restaurant experience of 8-10 years
- Graduation from a food service management or culinary program may substitute for some experience
- Demonstrated skills in team management and delegation
- Knowledge or ability to quickly learn company policies and standards
- Ability to read, speak, and comprehend instructions and policies
- Must be willing to work varied and rotating schedules including opening, busy, and closing shifts
Job Qualifications
- Documented and demonstrated experience managing restaurants including QSR, casual dining, and full service within the assigned zone
- Minimum of 3 years concurrent multi-unit multi-concept management experience for small zones or 5 years for large zones with 8-10 years total restaurant experience
- Graduation from a food service management or culinary program may substitute for part of experience
- Proven team management, delegation, and issue resolution skills
- Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, service, quality, equipment, and operational standards or ability to learn quickly
- Effective communication skills including speaking, reading, and comprehending instructions and policies
Job Duties
- Ensure all general managers and staff prepare the zone's restaurants for next-day opening and hold GMs accountable for closing and opening checklists
- Schedule managers to provide leadership coverage during all operating hours and ensure restaurants have a person-in-charge
- Support and coach restaurant staff to achieve business goals and promote diversity and inclusion
- Interview, hire, terminate, and promote associates within the zone and manage onboarding and offboarding processes
- Monitor financial and operational reports to track progress towards goals and collaborate with senior leadership
- Manage daily product orders, invoice processing, vendor communication, and ensure proficiency in company tools
- Oversee day-to-day associate activities, resolve customer and associate issues, maintain planned maintenance, and implement marketing programs
- Maintain compliance with all safety, sanitary, and health standards and train staff on wellness protocols
