Job Description

Michigan State University (MSU) is a globally recognized public research university located in East Lansing, Michigan. Established in 1855, MSU has grown into a leader in academic excellence, research, and collegiate athletics. The university is home to a vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff committed to fostering innovation, diversity, and leadership. MSU boasts a rich athletic tradition, with its football, basketball, and hockey teams competing at top levels in the NCAA. The energetic sports culture at MSU brings together thousands of fans each season, creating an exciting and spirited game-day atmosphere.

This Fall, Michigan State University is hiring event staff for its highly anticipated football, basketball, and hockey games. These positions are ideal for individuals who enjoy fast-paced environments and want to be part of the action supporting MSU’s athletic events. Roles available include Concession Cashiers (Servsafe certification required), Prep Cooks (Servsafe certification required), Dishwashers, Premium Runners, and Warehouse Support. Each role plays a crucial part in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for fans attending the games.

Working with MSU’s event staff offers a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of food service and event support tasks. Whether it’s preparing and serving food, managing point-of-sale transactions, maintaining cleanliness standards, or supporting inventory and logistics operations, every team member contributes to the overall success of the event. These positions often require working on your feet for extended periods, performing physically demanding tasks, and interacting with customers in a courteous and professional manner.

Bluecrew, an established staffing partner, facilitates these event staff positions. As part of their commitment to employee health and safety, Bluecrew emphasizes that all staff must uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines, including personal hygiene standards such as keeping hair tied back, maintaining trimmed nails, and covering facial hair when necessary. Additionally, appropriate attire such as close-toed shoes and pants is expected for all staff members. Because of the dynamic environment, candidates should be comfortable working independently or as part of a team, be able to handle busy settings, and maintain a positive attitude throughout their shift.

These positions provide work during game days, aligning well with flexible schedules for students or those seeking part-time employment. The roles foster skill development in customer service, teamwork, food safety, and event operations, making them excellent stepping stones for future career opportunities in hospitality, food services, and event management. With the passionate Spartan fan base, employees get to experience the thrill of collegiate sports firsthand while contributing to memorable game-day experiences for attendees.
