The role of Mixing, Batching, and Blending Operator at Michael Foods is integral to the production process and supports the company's mission to maintain excellence in product quality and safety. This full-time position demands adherence to safe work practices, compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and a keen attention to detail for accurate measurement and mixing of ingredients. Operators will be responsible for utilizing various equipment to ensure batches are produced in line with instructions and regulatory requirements. The operator will also take part in the maintenance and cleaning processes essential for maintaining sanitary conditions and optimal functioning of the production area.
The position requires effective communication skills for coordinating with other departments, meticulous record-keeping for quality control and compliance, and proactive problem-solving capabilities to handle mechanical issues or system abnormalities. The role also offers the opportunity to actively engage in safety meetings and trainings while being a part of a team guided by core values such as teamwork, accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and passion for customer satisfaction. Typical schedules follow a two-week rotation involving 36 to 48 hours of work weekly, with working hours generally from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., inclusive of overtime during the first week.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
- 2 plus years of experience operating mixing machinery and handling GMPs and product specifications
- Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in mixing and batching
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
- Basic computer skills necessary to operate equipment controls
- Ability to operate motorized material handling equipment
- Ability to work flexible shifts based on production schedule
- Physical ability to handle cleaning and assembly tasks
- Willingness to participate in training and safety meetings
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
- 2 plus years of experience operating mixing machinery and handling GMPs and product specifications
- Experience with SPC (weight control)
- Ability to read write and comprehend shift change instructions correspondence emails and memos
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to communicate effectively with other employees
- Ability to calculate general mathematics using units of weight measurement and volume
- Ability to solve problems involving several variables in standardized situations
- General knowledge of chemicals
- Basic level computer skills to operate equipment controls
- Ability to plan activities and work independently
- Maintain a positive and engaging attitude towards colleagues
- Mechanical aptitude
- General knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting to correct processing deficiencies and react promptly
Job Duties
- Adheres to safe work practices policies and procedures
- Follows Good Manufacturing Practices and maintains sanitary conditions
- Operates equipment to maintain regulatory standards and compliance
- Mix batches of product according to batching and kitting instructions
- Accurately weights all ingredients to ensure consistent batching
- Cleans and sets up production mixing room including assembly and disassembly of piping and pumps
- Selects correct production formulation in formula editor matching production schedule
- Ensures accuracy and quality of batches mixed and transferred to holding tanks
- Maintains communication with other departments for efficient operations
- Records batch information to meet Quality Assurance and regulatory compliance
- Utilizes scales and meters for precise measurements
- Possesses knowledge of Clean in Place (CIP) system
- Performs equipment cleaning using Clean Out of Place (C.O.P.) tanks
- Operates motorized material handling equipment
- Manages inventory consumptions or creations in inventory systems
- Alerts Supervisor of mechanical problems or process deviations
- Participates actively in safety meetings and training
- Trains new hires as required
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance
- Fosters open communication and positive work attitude
- Performs other duties as assigned
