Job Description

Cook Children’s is a leading not-for-profit pediatric health care organization based in Texas, widely recognized for its commitment to providing exceptional medical services to children and families. With its flagship medical center in Fort Worth and an expanding network that includes a new medical center in Prosper, Cook Children’s offers a comprehensive range of services through more than 60 primary, specialty, and urgent care locations spread across the state. The organization also encompasses a broad healthcare network, including physician groups, home health care, surgery centers, a health plan, various health services, and a dedicated health foundation focused on the well-being of children. This robust support system ensures that the community has access to top-ranked specialty programs and a vast network designed to meet the unique and diverse health needs of every child.

Cook Children’s prides itself not only on its extensive healthcare capabilities but also on its deep connection to the community it serves. The organization views itself as more than just a healthcare system – it is a friend, a neighbor, and a part of the family. Many of the staff members are parents themselves, which provides a unique perspective and empathy in understanding the challenges families face. This perspective drives their mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and to support families through each step of their child’s healthcare journey. Committed to diversity and equal opportunity, Cook Children’s ensures a welcoming environment free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disabilities, and other protected classes according to federal laws. They offer a supportive workplace where employees have the opportunity to grow and make meaningful contributions to pediatric health care.

The Medical Receptionist role at Cook Children’s North Carrollton Primary Care represents an essential frontline position in the organization. Situated within the North Carrollton Hebron Primary Care department, this role operates during the first shift, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a standard 40-hour work week. The Medical Receptionist is key to creating a positive and welcoming environment for patients, acting as the first point of contact during patient visits. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt efficiently to changes in staffing levels and patient volumes. The Medical Receptionist manages patient flow smoothly while ensuring prompt, courteous telephone communication, scheduling appointments, registering patients, handling billing, and collecting payments in adherence to established policies and procedures.

Successful candidates will develop a comprehensive understanding of diversified insurance plans and medical terminology, contributing to the efficiency and accuracy of patient intake processes. The position demands maturity, professionalism, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining exemplary interpersonal relationships with patients, physicians, and staff. This role is ideal for individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent and customer service experience, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Joining Cook Children’s means becoming part of a respected, mission-driven organization that values its employees and offers a nurturing environment where skills and careers can flourish.
