The Patient Service Specialist position is a critical front office role that supports smooth operations of the clinical reception areas. The role encompasses greeting and assisting patients, managing registration data, verifying insurance, and updating patient records with accuracy and care. The Patient Service Specialist is responsible for collecting co-pays and securing sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Job Requirements

- Experience in patient services or healthcare administration
- Ability to travel extensively within Eastern Kansas regions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner
- Proactively keeps patients informed on delays and expected time to be seen
- Consistently provides superior internal and external customer service
- Ensures patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently
- Obtains registration data, insurance information, and photo ID at each encounter
- Promptly and accurately enters patient data into the computer system
- Verifies patient insurance and collects co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles
- Follows all HIPAA guidelines and explains privacy practices to patients
- Balances daily charges and safeguards received money
- Manages patient charts and arranges referrals as needed
- Assists other staff in a positive, team-centered manner
- Assists in scheduling and following up on provider referrals
- Maintains the cleanliness and stock of the lobby area
- Seeks methods to minimize financial risk
- Contracts with auditing services to ensure financial controls
- Performs other assigned duties
- Ensures confidentiality and safety in all activities
