Job Description

Ascension Medical Group Providence at Lake Shore, located in Waco, TX, is part of Ascension, a leading nonprofit Catholic health system with a mission deeply rooted in service, growth, care, and connection. Ascension is renowned for fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture, empowering over 97,000 associates nationwide to innovate and excel in healthcare. Recognized as one of the Best 150+ Places to Work in Healthcare and honored as a Military-Friendly Gold Employer, Ascension provides employees with a nurturing environment where their contributions make a meaningful impact on patient care and community well-being.

The Lakeshore Family Medicine clinic, under the Family Medicine department, serves as a vital community resource, delivering comprehensive and patient-centered care. The clinic operates weekdays during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, providing a stable and predictable schedule for its team members.

This role fundamentally supports the clinic’s operational flow and patient experience by managing front-end administrative responsibilities. As a patient service representative at Lakeshore Family Medicine, you will be the frontline ambassador greeting patients and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor while efficiently managing check-in and check-out processes to ensure a smooth and seamless patient journey. You will be responsible for accurately capturing and verifying patient demographic data to maintain error-free records that contribute directly to delivering high-quality clinical care.

Your role further includes scheduling and confirming patient appointments, processing medical record requests with strict compliance to HIPAA regulations, and securing necessary insurance authorizations and precertifications. By acting as a liaison between patients and insurance providers, you help ensure that coverage details are clearly communicated and understood. You will also manage financial transactions, including submitting charges for medical procedures, collecting co-payments, and performing daily financial reconciliations. These efforts play a critical role in maintaining the clinic’s operational health and ensuring the delivery of exceptional healthcare services.

Working at Ascension means more than just fulfilling job duties; it involves being part of a community that values your professional development and well-being. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, alongside HSA/FSA options to support your health needs. Financial security is bolstered through employer-matched retirement plans, planning resources, and insurance options.

Employees enjoy generous paid time off and holiday benefits to recharge, as well as tuition reimbursement and ongoing professional development opportunities to foster career growth. Ascension also provides support for emotional well-being through counseling, peer support, and spiritual care services. Family support benefits include parental leave and adoption assistance. Additional perks such as legal and pet insurance and transportation savings add value to the generous employment package.

Ultimately, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a respected healthcare provider where purpose meets opportunity, and every associate is empowered to deliver exceptional patient care and service excellence.
