Job Description
Atrius Health, part of the Optum family of businesses, is a nationally recognized physician-led healthcare organization dedicated to transforming healthcare through clinical innovation, quality improvement, and a strong commitment to value-based care. Operating in eastern and central Massachusetts, Atrius Health provides a connected care system through multiple practice locations, fostering collaboration between primary and specialty care providers, hospital partners, community specialists, and skilled nursing facilities. This integrated approach ensures the delivery of high-quality care to patients, enhancing their health outcomes and patient experience. As a member of Optum, a clinician-led care organization, Atrius Health benefits from the vast resources, data, and support of a global health entity, empowering healthcare professionals to live their best lives both at work and home while making a meaningful impact on community health. The organization values clinician input and innovation, encouraging new ideas and initiatives that improve care on a large scale.
The Medical Assistant II role at Atrius Health is a vital position responsible for performing expanded and advanced clinical support duties. Unlike entry-level Medical Assistants, this role requires a higher level of technical expertise and problem-solving capability, serving as a resource and role model for colleagues. The Medical Assistant II maintains smooth patient flow, manages scheduling to optimize clinician availability, prioritizes urgent cases, and coordinates care when clinicians are unavailable. Responsibilities include managing communications, such as clinician mail and MyHealth messages, addressing patient concerns, and ensuring compliance with procedures. This position often supports multiple clinicians or departments and may float between different areas, gaining experience across primary care and specialty services. Additionally, the Medical Assistant II plays an active role in care improvement initiatives, staff training, and departmental representation for system upgrades.
Compensation for this full-time role ranges from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, and local labor factors. Atrius Health offers a comprehensive benefits package including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase options, 401(k) contributions, and more, subject to eligibility. The company fosters an inclusive and diverse workplace, committed to equitable care and reducing health disparities. OptumCare, the hiring division, is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace, requiring a drug test before employment begins. Joining Atrius Health as a Medical Assistant II provides an opportunity to advance your healthcare career in a supportive environment dedicated to better healthcare for everyone, with a clear pathway for professional growth and development.
