The Meat Team Member role at Whole Foods Market is an essential position within the retail environment that supports meat department operations through activities including counter service, stocking, sanitation, and customer interaction. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and cold environments
  • ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery

Job Duties

  • Ensures fresh and appealing displays by checking quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked, rotating and removing out-of-date products, filling ice tables, and performing assigned duties
  • maintains back stock in good order
  • assists with sampling program by keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing
  • cleans cases, glass, signs, uprights, coolers, smokers, floors, and drains as required
  • arrives to work on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses customer needs promptly, models suggestive selling techniques, answers phones and pages courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising of products
  • follows and ensures compliance with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains clean and sanitary working and shopping environments
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties including ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
