The Role: The meat cutter position at Cheney Brothers is a vital role within the foodservice supply chain, responsible for preparing meat products according to detailed customer specifications and safety standards. Working Monday through Friday on the first shift starting at 6 a.m., employees can expect to work until approximately 3 p.m., with a competitive pay rate beginning at $18 per hour, which can increase based on experience. The work is located at 240 SW 32nd St, Fort Lauderdale, FL, in a safe, clean, and inclusive work environment.
This role entails cutting, slicing, and packaging products such as beef, pork, lamb, and seafood to precise sizes and weights, with an emphasis on quality and compliance with safety standards including Good Manufacturing Practices and USDA regulations. The position requires physical stamina to stand for up to six hours per day and handle lifting duties of up to 80 lbs regularly. The meat cutter works as part of a team in the production department, assisting other roles such as packers and sanitizers, while maintaining cleanliness and safety of tools and workspaces.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of meat cutting experience
- At least 1 year experience in food service or production
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Willingness to work in cold storage environments
- Physical capability to lift and handle up to 80 lbs
- Compliance with safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2+ years of meat cutting experience
- 1+ year experience in food service or food production environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods up to six hours
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 80 lbs regularly
- Familiarity with safety and quality standards such as GMP and USDA regulations
- Ability and willingness to work in refrigerated and cold environments
Job Duties
- Review work schedule and perform safety checks on equipment
- Obtain supplies and prepare for operations
- Check cutting list and obtain stock from coolers
- Cut various raw meats and seafood by hand using proper cutting techniques
- Clean and sanitize knives and tools according to USDA regulations
- Use band saw or slicer to cut portions and check weights
- Remove scrap totes and tubs to pickup area
- Assist packers and sanitizers as needed
- Perform housekeeping duties and maintain safety standards
- Complete necessary paperwork and secure equipment at shift end
- Perform other related duties as assigned
