Job Description

HSC is a well-established managed admissions shelter that has been serving the community for over 48 years. Since its founding, it has built a strong reputation as a reliable and compassionate organization dedicated to animal welfare and community support. In 1982, HSC became the first low-cost spay/neuter clinic to open in the southeastern United States, marking a significant milestone in affordable veterinary care. Today, HSC continues to expand its reach by adopting out over 3,500 dogs and cats annually and offering a diverse range of services at its state-of-the-art Animal Resource Center. These services include dog training programs, youth initiatives, and an affordable veterinary clinic that provides essential wellness, spay, and neuter services to the local community.

HSC is more than just an animal shelter; it is a community hub that fosters compassion, education, and support for both animals and their families. Its broad programming enhances the quality of life for pets and owners alike, promoting responsible pet ownership and community engagement. The organization is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, creating a positive workplace culture where all individuals feel respected and valued. This dedication reflects in its hiring practices as well, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds including those with criminal records, as long as they meet the organization's ethical and legal standards.

The opportunity at HSC is for a full-time Marketing Coordinator position within their dynamic Development Team. This role is pivotal in supporting HSC's marketing efforts through the daily execution of communications and promotional activities across both digital and print media. The Marketing Coordinator will be instrumental in driving awareness and engagement for HSC's programs, services, fundraising campaigns, and events. The position earns $23.00 per hour and requires the individual to work in-office four days a week with one remote day, typically from Monday to Friday. Occasionally, the schedule may extend to include nights and weekends to support event-related activities.

This hands-on marketing role demands a creative and proactive individual capable of producing high-quality marketing collateral that aligns with HSC’s brand standards. Key responsibilities include content creation, graphic design using Canva, copywriting, managing digital advertising, email marketing, website updates, fundraising communications, and event promotion. The ideal candidate will also bring experience or a strong interest in leveraging digital tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), Illustrator, CapCut or similar video editing tools, WordPress, and social media management platforms including Meta Business Suite and Meta Ads Manager.

Additionally, the Marketing Coordinator should be comfortable handling photography and videography to capture impactful content featuring dogs and cats. This role may also involve occasional transportation of animals for media and event appearances, so a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a suitable driving record are required. The person in this role will be a valued member of a passionate team dedicated to making a difference in animal and community lives through effective marketing and communication strategies.

Overall, this position offers a unique blend of creative marketing tasks and meaningful community service within a respected animal welfare organization. HSC provides a supportive work environment, competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package to promote employee well-being and professional growth. Potential candidates interested in being part of a mission-driven team that proudly serves both animals and people are encouraged to apply and visit the organization's website for more details.
