Job Description
Veteran Ink is a distinguished 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to honoring and healing veterans through the transformative art of tattoo therapy. Based in San Diego, California, Veteran Ink serves as a dedicated community where veterans connect with skilled tattoo artists to share their personal stories, reclaim their identities, and engage in a healing process through artistic expression. Through its innovative approach, Veteran Ink combines the therapeutic power of tattoos with community building to ensure veterans' narratives are not only acknowledged but celebrated with respect and dignity. As a nonprofit positioned at the intersection of art and veterans' services, Veteran Ink has developed a unique niche that provides meaningful support, healing, and advocacy for the veteran community, promoting mental health and survivor empowerment.
The Marketing and Event Specialist plays a vital role in advancing Veteran Ink's mission by driving initiatives related to tattoo therapy, digital marketing communications, and veteran engagement programs. This full-time position, based in San Diego or Southwest California, offers a flexible hybrid or remote work environment to accommodate the dynamic needs of the organization and its events. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role involves a diverse array of responsibilities that blend creative storytelling, program logistics, and relationship management. The specialist will spearhead marketing campaigns, coordinate a broad spectrum of events including fundraising and tattoo donor sessions, and enhance digital platforms through various content creation efforts.
The incumbent will utilize skills in email marketing, basic graphic design, website management, social media oversight, copywriting, and video content production to effectively communicate Veteran Ink's impactful work. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with an innovative mindset who can balance multiple tasks and optimize marketing channels to engage target audiences, particularly within military and veteran demographics. Understanding of military culture and sensitivity to trauma-informed care is a significant advantage, ensuring authentic and meaningful connections with the community the organization serves.
Beyond marketing and communications, this role requires managing partnerships, coordinating logistics for film shoots and campaigns, and supervising agency partners and freelancers to ensure smooth execution of projects. The Marketing and Event Specialist helps increase visibility, participation, and donor engagement through multichannel campaigns across digital platforms including email, SMS, social media, and websites. The candidate will also be entrusted with overseeing the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for donors and alumni, supporting effective communication and relationship building.
Veteran Ink champions a mission-driven culture that values creativity, collaboration, and impact. The Marketing and Event Specialist will thrive in a fast-paced environment where their contributions directly influence the growth and success of a unique nonprofit devoted to veteran healing through artistic expression. This role offers an enriching opportunity to be part of a passionate team dedicated to making a difference for veterans using innovative marketing and event strategies that celebrate resilience and community.
