Mississippi Aquarium, located in Gulfport, MS, is a renowned marine attraction dedicated to providing immersive and educational experiences centered on the diverse aquatic life of the Gulf Coast. As an Other employment type, the Marketing & Events Intern position offers a unique 12-week internship starting May 18 through August 10, 2026. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this role provides a valuable opportunity for aspiring marketing professionals and event planners to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, real-world environment. Interns will contribute to a variety of marketing initiatives aimed at increasing visitor engagement, promoting educational programs, and successfully executing special events both on-site and off-site.
The Marketing & Events Intern will support the aquarium's marketing strategies through assistance in social media management, content creation, event planning, and community outreach. This position entails collaborative work with internal marketing teams and external vendors to coordinate marketing materials such as flyers, digital assets, and signage. Interns will also be involved in researching market trends, competitor analysis, audience segmentation for email campaigns, and tracking the effectiveness of marketing efforts through performance metrics.
Ideal candidates are those who are pursuing degrees in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Hospitality, or related fields, and possess strong writing and communication skills. Creativity, organizational ability, and attention to detail are crucial in managing multiple projects and working collaboratively within a team setting.
