Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, dedicated to providing quality products and superior service to a broad range of customers including restaurants, healthcare and hospitality facilities, government operations, and more. With a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer success, US Foods is recognized as a key player in the food industry, offering extensive product selections along with expert support to help customers operate their businesses efficiently. The company fosters a culture that values integrity, safety, and teamwork, making it a sought-after employer for professionals passionate about contributing to the foodservice ecosystem.

The position available is for a Transportation Supervisor at US Foods. This role is integral in overseeing and developing the company’s transportation and delivery associates, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of all operations. The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of drivers and support staff by providing coaching, training, and performance management, while also enforcing compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other legal requirements. This role demands a leader who can inspire a safety-first culture, manage workforce productivity, and cultivate a motivating working environment that aligns with US Foods’ values.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, this role involves direct oversight of transportation operations, which includes scheduling, maintaining driver qualification files, investigating accidents, and driving efficiency in processes to minimize waste. The supervisor will coordinate closely with senior transportation managers and collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments such as sales and warehouse teams, as well as liaising with external customers. Periodic travel—approximately 10%—is required typically for mandatory meetings and training purposes.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in transportation or warehouse distribution, with at least three years of experience plus a minimum of one year in supervisory roles. Strong knowledge of transportation methods, safety regulations, and operational best practices are essential. The role also requires competency with basic computer tools including Microsoft Office, with particular emphasis on Excel for scheduling and operational tracking. US Foods offers this opportunity as a full-time position, featuring competitive pay and potential for incentive compensation. Comprehensive benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more, supporting an employee-centric workplace environment.
