The Business Development & Marketing Team at White & Case plays a pivotal role in enhancing the firm’s reputation, expanding its client base, and driving revenue growth. This dynamic team is responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing plans that promote the firm’s legal services using a blend of digital and traditional marketing channels tailored to reach target audiences effectively. They conduct thorough market research to identify industry trends, client needs, and competitor positioning, ensuring that the firm stays competitive within the evolving legal marketplace.

Within this team, the role of the Events Manager based on the West Coast is integral to the successful planning and execution of client and internal events. Reporting to the Americas Senior Events Manager, this position focuses on delivering a high volume of virtual, in-person, and hybrid events (over 300 annually) that foster client relationships and promote the firm’s brand. The Events Manager collaborates closely with business development teams to create annual objectives, manage event budgets, and measure return on investment against key performance indicators.

This role also encompasses leadership duties, including the training and mentoring of team members to ensure the adoption of best practices and operational efficiency. The Events Manager drives a variety of initiatives such as sponsorship management, cross-regional communication efforts, and office management to fine-tune event strategies. Additionally, the position requires active participation in industry networking and venue research to optimize event planning.

Job Duties

  • Lead and manage the preparation and delivery of West Coast and Americas events program to include virtual, in-person and hybrid events
  • support the Americas' Senior Events Manager in overall team and project management in accordance with 2027 strategy
  • training and mentoring of team members to ensure they are given the proper tools and structure to carry out best business practices
  • work closely with the Firm's Business Development teams in setting annual event objectives in collaboration with the key stakeholders and measurement of success against these post event
  • creating event ROI data and reporting to key stakeholders
  • management of budgets and reporting for events in the West Coast offices
  • project management of West Coast sponsorships that incorporates cross practice client events and cross-region communications inclusive of working with relevant business development stakeholders to determine best course of list management
  • active role in office management to implement best practice and annual event plans
  • work directly with senior operational managers to ensure efficiencies by following best practices while also consulting with other Event Managers globally and the Director of Events
  • assisting in management of the event management tool implementation process develop firm roll out plan across all regions
  • advance overall department goals through special projects and initiatives including researching venues and attending industry-networking events to maximize knowledge and generate ideas
  • project lead Global Event Team objectives including management working groups, timelines, progress reports
  • project management of relevant regional team in ensuring all events data is up to date for example mid-year/year end fact packs
