We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Design and Acceptance Lead to join our dedicated team, steering EHS initiatives for capital projects across the organization. This pivotal full-time role centers on ensuring that every project—from initial design through commissioning and final handover—meets rigorous safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Acting as the primary liaison between architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and internal stakeholders, the EHS Lead plays a critical role in the seamless integration of EHS standards into the development and execution of complex projects within a busy theme park environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial or construction consulting, with comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements, risk management standards, and project lifecycle management. Responsibilities include conducting thorough design document reviews for compliance and safety, supporting field verification and commissioning to confirm adherence to approved plans, and managing effective communication across diverse teams to facilitate hazard identification and mitigation. This position demands outstanding organizational skills, adaptability to shifting project priorities, and the ability to multitask across various projects and locations.
In addition to the technical duties, the role requires active participation in advancing Universal Orlando's EHS policies and assurance guidelines. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in interpreting both U.S. and international regulations, familiarity with key standards such as ANSI/ASSE/ISO guidelines, and the capability to prepare executive-level reports. Holding or the potential to obtain recognized certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or PE is essential. Beyond qualifications, qualities such as problem-solving aptitude, analytical thinking, self-motivation, and teamwork are highly valued.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in safety and/or environmental or construction field preferred
- Five to seven years of experience in industrial and/or construction consulting
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Possess or meet testing criteria for CSP, CIH, CHMM, PE or other equivalent internationally recognized certification
- Experience with plans review, 3D modeling, and regulatory interpretations
- Ability to read and interpret US and/or international regulations and consensus standards
- Familiarity with ANSI/ASSE/ISO risk management standard 13000, ANSI/ASSE/ISO risk assessment techniques 31010, ANSI Z10 and OHSAS 18000 safety management standards
- Ability to plan and organize processes and teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Works well with others and is a self-starter
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, or construction field preferred
- Five to seven years of experience in industrial or construction consulting roles
- Experience with risk assessment, supervision, planning, scheduling, project reporting and executive communications
- Knowledge of US and international EHS regulations and consensus standards
- Familiarity with ANSI/ASSE/ISO risk management and safety management standards
- Ability to plan and organize processes and teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective multi-tasking and teamwork capabilities
Job Duties
- Lead and conduct reviews of all project design documents to provide guidance on guest and team member safety, fire prevention, environmental, occupational health for projects
- Track, document, and communicate EHS comments ensuring timely resolution and alignment with project milestones
- Support field verification, testing, and commissioning activities confirming constructed assets meet approved designs and EHS requirements
- Participate in inspections, readiness reviews, and project handover processes to ensure safe and compliant operations
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, SMEs, and contractors to integrate EHS requirements throughout all project phases
- Maintain and manage organized systems for design reviews, comments, approvals, and compliance records
- Facilitate and maintain effective communication mechanisms between contractors, vendors, design engineers, architects, project management teams, and EHS business lines
