The Manager, Culinary Development & Operations role at Royal Caribbean Group represents an exciting career opportunity within the Food & Beverage (F&B) department, situated on-site at the Royal Caribbean Headquarters. Reporting to the Senior Director of Culinary Operations & Excellence, this position plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences aboard cruise ships. The role demands innovative and strategic culinary leadership to ensure that dining experiences meet brand standards, exceed guest expectations, and align with financial objectives. The manager is responsible for leading the development and standardization of culinary concepts, recipes, and menus that are scalable across the entire fleet, contributing to the brand's reputation for quality and creativity.
This position requires a strategic thinker with a passion for culinary arts, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. The Manager will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Product Development, Procurement, Finance, and Marketing to deliver integrated and sustainable culinary solutions that support the company’s goals. Key responsibilities also include overseeing recipe documentation, conducting costing analyses, maintaining quality control, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
With responsibility for financial accountability including managing enterprise food costs exceeding $750 million annually, the position demands strong business acumen and data-driven decision-making skills. Moreover, the Manager will lead and develop a high-performing culinary development team, fostering innovation, accountability, and a culture of excellence within the department. A critical aspect of the role involves participating in enterprise-wide culinary initiatives such as new builds, revitalizations, and limited-time food introductions, ensuring seamless adaptation and success across all ships.
The position also includes oversight of special menus, VIP programs, and crew food services, emphasizing a comprehensive and inclusive culinary strategy. Travel up to 25% is expected to support fleet-wide implementation, testing, and training efforts. Job Requirements
- 5-7 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in high-volume, premium hospitality environments
- Experience leading multi-unit or enterprise-level culinary operations preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field preferred
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Demonstrated ability in financial and operational management
- Excellent communication and collaboration capabilities
- Willingness to travel up to 25%

- Establish and govern culinary development standards, SOPs, and benchmarks
- Drive culinary decisions supporting profitability and manage enterprise food costs
- Lead, coach, and develop culinary team members fostering a culture of accountability and innovation
