The Prospect Park YMCA is currently seeking a dedicated Maintenance Worker / Porter to join their team. This position is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of the facility, ensuring a welcoming and hygienic environment for all members and visitors. The role offers an hourly wage of $17.17 and involves responsibilities such as cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, including mopping, dusting, and trash removal. The Maintenance Worker / Porter will also be expected to handle other duties including window washing, room set-ups and break downs, pool cleaning, snow removal, grounds keeping, and minor repairs as necessary.

Working in this role means actively contributing to the smooth operation of the YMCA facility by adhering to all relevant health and safety standards set by regulatory bodies such as the Department of Health, Department of Buildings, and Fire Department of New York. The successful candidate will also follow the YMCA’s housekeeping policies and procedures and is required to obtain the YMCA Housekeeping certificate within one year of employment. The position involves using both motorized and non-motorized equipment, performing light maintenance work, and ensuring that all areas remain secure and well-stocked with supplies like soap and paper towels.

In addition to the hands-on duties, the Maintenance Worker / Porter plays a critical role in supporting the facility’s programming by setting up and breaking down rooms and installations as needed. The role requires someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to sanitary practices in alignment with CDC guidelines, contributing to the health and well-being of staff and patrons alike.
