Job Description
Greystar is a globally recognized real estate leader, specializing in the management, development, and investment of institutional-quality rental housing. Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar operates across more than 265 real estate markets worldwide, including North America, Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. With over 1 million units managed globally and more than $300 billion in real estate assets under management, Greystar is the largest apartment operator in the United States. The company's extensive portfolio reflects its commitment to delivering world-class service, maximizing operational efficiency, and enhancing resident satisfaction.
Founded in 1993 by Bob Faith, Greystar has grown into a fully integrated global platform providing property management, investment management, development, and construction services. The company focuses on offering high-quality rental housing environments while maintaining rigorous standards in cleanliness, safety, appearance, and functionality. Employees at Greystar benefit from a dynamic work environment rich with opportunities to develop skills and grow professionally within a supportive culture that values integrity, collaboration, and innovation.
This Service Technician role is a full-time, hourly position with a pay range of $23.00 to $25.00 per hour. The position is pivotal in maintaining the physical integrity and appeal of Greystar-managed properties. The technician ensures that buildings, grounds, and amenities meet the company’s high standards through technical and mechanical work. This involves completing maintenance work orders from resident service requests and preventative maintenance duties. The role includes making ready vacant apartments for new residents by performing detailed inspections, repairs, and coordinating vendor services, thereby ensuring a seamless transition for new move-ins.
The technician also manages maintenance supplies, tracks inventory usage, and completes necessary paperwork promptly and accurately to ensure service requests are properly recorded. In addition, the role involves preserving property aesthetics and safety by performing tasks such as trash removal, pressure washing, painting, and general cleaning. The position supports cost control initiatives by repairing parts rather than replacing them where feasible and by using materials and tools efficiently.
Safety compliance is a crucial aspect of the role, requiring the technician to adhere to Greystar’s risk management policies, participate in safety trainings including OSHA requirements, and promptly report accidents. The technician may also be responsible for inspecting work completed by outside vendors and assisting in routine property inspections to identify maintenance and safety issues.
Physical demands of this position include standing, walking, bending, climbing, and performing manual labor in all weather conditions. The technician must be capable of lifting weights up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance. The flexible work schedule may occasionally include call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Required certifications include EPA certifications for refrigerant handling and any state or local licenses necessary, as well as a valid driver’s license for operating property golf carts if applicable.
Greystar offers robust benefits, including competitive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, generous paid time off, onsite housing discounts, paid sabbaticals, retirement plans with company match, paid parental leave, fertility benefits, employee assistance programs, and various other insurance plans and charitable programs, creating a comprehensive support system for employees. Greystar is committed to equal employment opportunity and inclusive hiring practices, including consideration for individuals with criminal histories. Join Greystar to contribute to a company that values quality, innovation, and its people while advancing your career in a thriving global real estate platform.
