Job Description
The hotel located at 656 America Center Ct, San Jose, California, is operated under the franchise ownership of Johnson Hospitality. Johnson Hospitality is an independent franchisee that manages all employment policies, practices, and operations for the hotel, distinguishing it as a separately run entity from Marriott International, Inc. which means all hiring, firing, staffing, compensation, and other employment terms are controlled exclusively by Johnson Hospitality. The hotel operates in the hospitality industry, focusing on providing quality accommodation services while maintaining high standards for guest satisfaction, facility maintenance, and operational efficiency. This position is full-time and non-management, offering an hourly wage of $30.00. The role is based on-site at the hotel, not remote, and it requires a hands-on approach to ensure exceptional upkeep and efficient management of the hotel’s facilities and maintenance functions.
The Maintenance Supervisor role is a critical position within the hotel’s Engineering and Facilities department. The successful candidate will oversee and manage all maintenance activities to ensure the hotel’s physical environment remains in excellent condition and meets quality assurance standards. Responsibilities include leading, training, and motivating maintenance department personnel, conducting performance appraisals, scheduling staff within budget guidelines, and managing departmental budgets and supply orders. A significant part of the role includes conducting preventative maintenance checks on guest rooms and all hotel equipment, including HVAC units, laundry machines, fire safety systems, lawn care equipment, boilers, and plumbing. The candidate will also ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and local health and safety regulations, particularly for specialized equipment like swimming pools and spas.
This position requires proactive coordination with other departments to accommodate guest needs, address complaints related to maintenance, and maintain excellent communication regarding room status, work orders, and lost and found items. The Maintenance Supervisor must be familiar with emergency procedures, enforce safety guidelines, administer key control policies, and maintain effective department communications. A friendly and welcoming demeanor when interacting with guests is essential, as is a commitment to fostering a hardworking, attentive team mindset that anticipates and meets guest expectations. The role involves physical demands, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, reflecting the hands-on nature of hotel maintenance. Overall, this position offers a dynamic opportunity for skilled maintenance professionals to contribute to a well-maintained, guest-focused hotel environment, supported by competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
