This full-time, non-management Engineering position at JW Marriott Tampa Water Street is a critical role within the hotel’s maintenance and engineering department. The role offers a competitive hourly wage of $25.50 and requires an individual who is skilled in addressing a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks essential to maintaining the hotel's standards of quality and safety. The engineering team member will respond promptly to guest repair requests, exhibiting strong communication skills to resolve maintenance issues independently. The role demands expertise in preventive maintenance practices, including the upkeep, cleaning, and lubrication of tools and equipment. Daily responsibilities include inspecting machinery and systems, handling tools and equipment safely, identifying and managing shut-off valves, and maintaining an inventory of maintenance supplies.

Ideal candidates for this role will demonstrate advanced knowledge in reading blueprints and electrical schematics, especially related to plumbing and HVAC systems. They will possess a high level of mechanical aptitude and operational skills across multiple categories such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, and kitchen equipment. The ability to perform complex repairs independently while ensuring full compliance with company standards and local and national codes is essential. Troubleshooting skills are vital for addressing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including pump and motor replacements, unclogging drains, electrical repairs, and programming devices. Safety is paramount, with strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout procedures and the use of engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance and energy management.

Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to train and mentor junior engineers and take responsibility for Engineer on Duty duties, including conducting rounds and monitoring readings. The successful candidate will also be expected to uphold Marriott's high standards of professionalism, guest interaction, and teamwork. Physical capabilities such as lifting, carrying, and operating within various settings, including stairs and ladders, are necessary to fulfill job requirements.
