Job Description

As a well-established institution in the region, MAC is committed to providing members with a clean, safe, and inviting environment where they can pursue their fitness goals with ease and confidence. The club emphasizes exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and delivering a welcoming atmosphere that encourages members of all ages and fitness levels to enjoy their experience fully.

The Facility Attendant position at Michigan Athletic Club is a crucial role within the Service/Support/Skilled Maintenance job family. This part-time, non-benefit eligible role offers an opportunity for individuals who are enthusiastic about contributing to a positive member experience while working in a dynamic, supportive environment. The position requires working variable shifts primarily covering the women’s locker rooms during Sunday and weekday morning hours. Under the supervision of the Facility Supervisor, the Facility Attendant is entrusted with ensuring cleanliness and order within locker rooms and fitness areas, performing custodial duties, managing laundry services, and supporting the organization's overall operational excellence.

The role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from maintaining locker rooms stocked with essential supplies and amenities to inspecting gym equipment for safety and functionality. The attendant acts as the first point of contact for members in their assigned areas, greeting them warmly and assisting with equipment-related inquiries and club information. This customer-facing role necessitates strong communication skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members. Additionally, the attendant is responsible for enforcing MAC’s policies and safety protocols, thereby helping to uphold the club’s standards of excellence and member safety.

Candidates must be prepared to contribute to ongoing training efforts to stay current with MAC’s policies and best practices, adapting as needed to support special events and other operational activities including overnight shifts if necessary. The position offers an excellent entry point for those who may be new to the workforce or the fitness industry, with no previous experience required and an emphasis on a positive, respectful, and service-oriented demeanor. CPR certification is required within six months of hire, reflecting the club’s commitment to member safety.
