The Senior Event Manager plays a critical role within this luxury environment, overseeing the planning and execution of sophisticated events. This position is responsible for the seamless coordination and management of complex group and social events, ensuring high-quality service throughout all phases including pre-event preparations, the event itself, and post-event follow-up. Serving as the primary contact for event planners after the initial sales handover, the Senior Event Manager ensures that clients experience smooth transitions and exceptional service delivery. This role requires a strategic mindset to identify revenue-generating opportunities by upselling enhancements that elevate the event experience.
This role also supports and acts on behalf of the Senior Director of Catering and Events during their absence, making it a vital leadership position within the catering and events department. The ideal candidate must have a strong professional demeanor suited to a luxury hospitality setting, with 3 to 5 years of event management experience specifically in upscale properties. Familiarity with the CI-TY event management system is preferred, along with proven organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The Senior Event Manager must demonstrate tactical and strategic decision-making capabilities and possess a comprehensive understanding of diverse event types such as corporate gatherings, bar mitzvahs, reunions, and golf tournaments.
Key responsibilities include maintaining close working relationships with meeting planners, sales teams, and resort management to ensure event success. The Senior Event Manager leads pre- and post-event meetings, identifies operational challenges, manages client budgets, and oversees group room blocks and meeting space allocations. The role frequently involves participating in client site inspections and assisting in the sales process, while acting as a liaison between clients and field sales representatives to guarantee a smooth event flow. Expertise in forecasting group sleeping rooms, catering, and audiovisual revenue is also essential to optimize financial outcomes.
Additionally, the Senior Event Manager coordinates event logistics including food and beverage, décor, entertainment, transportation, and any optional activities associated with the event. Clear and effective communication both verbally and in writing with clients and all operating departments is critical to uphold the resort’s high execution standards. This includes preparing comprehensive and accurate event documentation such as Event Orders and Event Resumes in a timely manner. The Senior Event Manager is also responsible for attending interdepartmental meetings, assisting with client site inspections, supporting budget preparation, and ensuring the physical appearance and maintenance needs of function spaces meet the resort’s quality standards.
This position demands the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain flexibility for schedules that include holidays and weekends. Fluency in English is required, with additional language skills considered a plus. Job Duties
- Build and maintain close relationships with meeting and event planners, the sales team, and all operating departments/resort management
