Job Description
The company hiring for this position is a dynamic and rapidly growing space-focused communications firm based in Denver, Colorado. This organization is at the forefront of satellite communications, specializing in next-generation satellite and lunar communications programs. Their innovative approach integrates cutting-edge technologies across multiple industries, particularly satellite communications, cloud networking, and modern infrastructure. As this demand for satellite and lunar communication technologies continues to swell, the company is expanding its team to support this growth and amplify its mission success on a global scale.
This particular role, Lunar Network Systems Engineer, is unique and distinguished from typical network engineering positions. The role is full-time and is ideally suited for someone who thrives on working both in the field and within systems environments. Unlike conventional desk-bound network jobs, this position involves hands-on involvement with deploying and integrating satellite communication ground station infrastructure at remote global sites. The engineer will work on complex, globally distributed networks supporting satellite communications, which requires a combination of technical skills in networking and RF (radio frequency) systems. The environment is collaborative yet demanding, with high visibility and critical contributions expected from each engineer on the team.
The position offers exposure to a variety of advanced technologies, including Cisco networking equipment, software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) architectures, Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure, Linux systems, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and AWX. This breadth of technology involvement provides an exceptional learning and growth opportunity for an early to mid-career professional specialized in satcom. The company is looking for candidates with 3 to 7 years of experience in network or systems engineering, especially those who bring hands-on experience with satellite communications or ground station environments.
In this role, engineers will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining robust network systems that enable efficient satellite data transmissions. Additionally, the position requires significant fieldwork, including racking, stacking, cabling, and configuring network and RF-related equipment at various remote locations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in mission-critical operations by ensuring the network infrastructure is secure, segmented correctly, and optimally performing.
Aside from technical prowess, this role demands adaptability and strong collaboration skills, as about 30% of the work involves team interaction and coordination. The engineer will need to navigate the complexities of both the networking and hardware environment while collaborating with communications engineers and other technical stakeholders. Familiarity with network security best practices and the ability to obtain security clearance is also essential due to the sensitive nature of the work.
The company provides a supportive work environment with bonus eligibility and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with vacation time. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States full-time, both now and in the future. This opportunity represents a rare and exciting chance to join a forward-thinking company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of satellite and lunar communications technology while advancing your career in a high-impact, hands-on engineering role.
