The opportunity is with the newest hotel located conveniently at Newark Liberty International Airport, offering guests picturesque views of the New York City skyline and the airport. This hotel prides itself on providing a modern, comfortable experience for travelers, with amenities such as plush bedding, complimentary Wi-Fi, work desks, k-cup coffee makers, 55-inch smart LCD TVs, microwaves, and refrigerators in every room and suite. Guests start their day with a complimentary Hearty and Healthy breakfast and can enjoy the hotel's restaurant and lounge, The Gateway on the 9th, which features diverse cuisines and stunning views of the surrounding area. Additionally, the hotel provides an onsite multi-purpose flexible meeting space ideal for business travelers.
The role being offered involves working within the Food and Beverage Department. This position requires flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays. The individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with daily operational procedures of the Food and Beverage Department, maintaining food and beverage safety and quality standards based on hotel, Shaner, and franchise specifications. Safety and operational standards must be rigorously followed to create a secure working environment for all staff involved. The role also involves handling guest-related issues with professionalism and responsiveness to ensure customer satisfaction.
Furthermore, clear communication is essential, requiring coordination with the General Manager, other Department Managers, Supervisors, and staff. The duties include taking orders and preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and light meals efficiently and courteously according to hotel specifications. Maintaining the cleanliness of the outlet and equipment, as well as managing stock and supplies, are critical responsibilities within this role. This position offers more than just typical service tasks; it is an integral part of the guest experience, requiring dedication to hospitality and operational excellence. Job Requirements
- Minimum one year of experience in the restaurant food and beverage field
- Minimum state age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests management and co-workers to their understanding
- High school graduate or equivalent
- ServSafe and or food safety training a plus
- Alcohol awareness training such as tips
- Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
- Ability to accurately compute basic mathematical calculations
Job Qualifications

- Bilingual English Spanish a plus
- Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele
Job Duties
- Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
- Ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Food and Beverage Department
- Maintain food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel Shaner and franchise specifications
- Maintain and abide by standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department
- Respond and handle guest related issues pertaining to the department
- Ensure communication with General Manager all other Department Managers Supervisors and Staff
- Take orders prepare and serve alcoholic non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests courteously and efficiently according to hotel specifications
- Maintain stock supplies and cleanliness of outlet and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
