With a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates, Airgas fosters a corporate culture centered around safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, Airgas benefits from the resources and reach of a worldwide organization present in 60 countries employing around 66,500 people. The company serves over 4 million customers and patients globally.
Joining Airgas means becoming part of a passionate and diverse team empowered to share ideas, take initiative, and make important decisions that contribute to the company’s success. This inclusive environment respects and values diverse perspectives across its employees, customers, patients, and community stakeholders. The company emphasizes creating a stimulating work experience where every individual’s contribution is vital, nurturing a workplace where employees feel valued and supported to reach their potential and develop meaningful career paths.
The role of Local Delivery Driver (CDL B) in Elk Grove Village, IL, offers an excellent opportunity for candidates who are safety-conscious, reliable, and motivated by customer service excellence. This is a full-time, daytime position, Monday through Friday, offering an hourly pay range of $28 to $29. The role is crucial in ensuring the safe transportation, loading, and unloading of compressed gas cylinders between Airgas retail locations with precision documentation and strict adherence to safety protocols.
The Local Delivery Driver operates a Class B hazardous materials (HAZMAT) vehicle, delivering compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hardgoods efficiently along designated routes. One of the key aspects of the job involves collecting empty cylinders from customers while maintaining professionalism and addressing any customer inquiries, ensuring utmost satisfaction. Precise record-keeping is necessary for all transactions, including obtaining customer signatures to comply with regulatory and company requirements.
In addition to transportation duties, the driver is responsible for logistics tasks such as loading and unloading materials, operating warehouse equipment like forklifts, and conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections to identify and report any issues. The job demands physical capability, including regularly lifting 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally lifting heavier weights with equipment support. The driver must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a professional demeanor as the public face of Airgas during deliveries.
This position comes with several attractive incentives, including a safety driver bonus and gainshare bonus, both paid quarterly, recognizing outstanding performance and safety adherence. Airgas also provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees and their families, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, and paid family leave benefits to help support new parents. The company offers retirement savings plans with employer match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and early benefits eligibility after only 30 days of employment.
Overall, this Local Delivery Driver role at Airgas combines meaningful work with competitive compensation and extensive benefits in a supportive and inclusive work environment. The organization’s commitment to diversity and equal opportunity assures all applicants that they will be treated fairly and respectfully, providing an excellent foundation for anyone seeking a long-term career in transportation and logistics within a reputable industry leader.
