The Line Cook position at WOB is a crucial role within the kitchen team, responsible for preparing food items that meet the company’s recipes and high standards. This hourly wage role reports directly to the Kitchen Manager and requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about cooking and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. The Line Cook plays an essential part in delivering a great customer experience by ensuring that every dish served adheres to WOB’s quality, portioning, and presentation guidelines. Working closely with other kitchen staff and front-of-house personnel, the Line Cook helps maintain the smooth and timely production of meals in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates with at least 2 years of kitchen experience are preferred, though enthusiasm and the right attitude are highly valued. The job also demands physical stamina, with frequent standing, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds required.

Job Requirements

  • be able to reach, bend, stoop, push and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits
  • flexible schedule
  • ability to retain menu recipe knowledge
  • ability to withstand frequent exposure to high and low temperatures, smoke, and steam
  • frequent contact with sanitary latex gloves, sanitation solutions, and all food products including meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, dairy and produce items
  • ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
  • willingness to perform additional duties as requested

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 2 years of experience in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, line cook, fry cook
  • possess strong teamwork skills
  • work well in fast-paced setting, while maintaining a fun, high energy work environment
  • must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • food handler certification within 30 days of hire or as required by state law
  • able to learn and understand menu recipe knowledge and cooking standards

Job Duties

  • ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the WOB recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
  • follow the prep list created by kitchen management
  • labeling and stocking all ingredients so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • ensure all food and station items are stored properly
  • follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • work efficiently and as part of a team to ensure timely preparation of dishes
  • maintain organization and cleanliness in the kitchen area
  • communicate effectively with kitchen team members and front of house staff
