The Line Cook position at River Oaks Country Club offers an incredible opportunity for culinary professionals seeking the next step in their career. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, Charles Carroll, and working closely with a talented Sous Chef team, the successful candidate will become part of an established Culinary Team responsible for producing and providing exceptional service across five distinct restaurant concepts as well as the club’s Banquets & Catering program. This role is critical to maintaining the high standards of food quality, presentation, and safety that the River Oaks brand is known for.

As a Line Cook, you will be trained extensively across various kitchen operations including A la Carte dining services and Banquet catering. The position demands versatility, creativity, and a keen eye for detail as you work through different kitchen stations such as fry, broiler, sautee, grill, and pantry. You will assist in ensuring every menu item is prepared fresh, according to the club’s recipes and presentation standards, providing members and guests with a consistent, high-quality dining experience. The role also involves daily setup and maintenance of workstations, requisitioning ingredients, and upholding rigorous sanitation and safety protocols in compliance with state and local health regulations.

This is a full-time, hourly position with a competitive wage of $18.50 per hour. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Four years of culinary experience in banquet or a la carte kitchen environments
  • Valid Texas Food Handlers Certificate
  • Ability to work full-time including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for long periods
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and procedures accurately
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Reliable transportation
  • Good attendance record

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven past experience in a similar role at a country club, hotel or upscale dining restaurant
  • Able to work a flexible full-time schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Able to clearly communicate, read and write in English
  • Willing to train and learn club’s recipes and standard operating procedures
  • Working knowledge of software such as FoodTrak preferred
  • Possess a valid Texas Food Handlers Certificate
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to move and lift up to 25 lbs without assistance
  • Standing, sitting or walking for extended periods
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance in a clean uniform
  • Able to commute with reliable transportation
  • Maintain good attendance

Job Duties

  • Work knowledge of banquet and a la carte kitchen stations including fry station, broiler station, sautee station, grill station and pantry
  • Assure all menu items are prepared fresh prior to service
  • Serve items in accordance with established portions and presentation standards
  • Set up service units with needed items
  • Set up, maintain and break down workstation
  • Requisition items needed to produce menu items
  • Adhere to state and local health and safety regulations
  • Ensure work areas and equipment are clean and sanitary
  • Assist restaurant chefs in maintaining security and safety in the kitchen
  • Follow club’s appearance standards and personal cleanliness rules
  • Cover, date and properly stock all food production and leftover products
  • Follow club’s menu recipes and procedures
  • Ensure storage areas, walk ins and reach ins are neat and cleaned daily
