Great Sage is a plant-based restaurant in Clarksville, MD dedicated to crafting inspired, seasonal cuisine that celebrates the full potential of plants. We believe that vegan food can be bold, elegant, and deeply satisfying — and we're looking for a skilled Line Cook who shares that passion and takes pride in putting out exceptional food, every shift.

Role Summary

As a Line Cook at Great Sage, you will work alongside our kitchen team to execute our plant-based menu with consistency, speed, and care. You'll own your station, contribute to prep, and help maintain the high standards that our guests expect. This role is a great fit for a cook who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to be part of a kitchen that takes food seriously.

Responsibilities

  • Execute dishes from your assigned station with accuracy and consistency during service.
  • Complete daily prep tasks efficiently and to the standards set by the Head Chef.
  • Follow recipes, plating guides, and portioning standards precisely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked station throughout the shift.
  • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health code standards at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with the team during service.
  • Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as needed.
  • Support other stations and cross-train as directed by kitchen leadership.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative kitchen culture.

Qualifications

  • 2+ year of professional kitchen experience (line cook or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with or enthusiasm for plant-based and vegan cooking.
  • Ability to work efficiently and stay composed in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Solid knife skills and understanding of fundamental cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices; ServSafe certification a plus.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Prior experience with plant-based cuisine preferred, but not required — a willingness to learn is what matters.
