Job Description

The Village at Gainesville is a well-established senior living community located on a spacious 104-acre campus near the vibrant city of Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville is renowned for its high quality of life, cultural amenities, and educational institutions such as the University of Florida and Santa Fe College. The Village prides itself on creating a supportive, welcoming atmosphere where residents are treated as valued members of a close-knit community, not just guests. The institution offers a comfortable residential setting with various amenities and services that enhance the lives of aging adults, emphasizing respect, dignity, and the well-being of every resident. The Village focuses on providing excellent care while inspiring its team members to grow their careers and develop professionally in a supportive environment.

The Village at Gainesville is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Line Cook to join its team on a part-time basis, working less than 30 hours per week during restaurant hours from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM, ensuring no late-night shifts. The Line Cook position plays a crucial role in the culinary department, responsible for preparing high-quality meals that align with federal, state, and local food safety standards. This role supports the mission of delivering exceptional dining experiences through the Culinary Promise program, which emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including premium meats like Black Angus, Kobe, and American Wagyu beef, as well as organic produce and healthy Better 4U options.

In this role, the Line Cook works closely with the Executive Sous Chef and Production Supervisor to prepare cold appetizers, salads, garnishes, and other menu items with accuracy and care. The ideal candidate must maintain strict attention to sanitation, safety, and cleanliness, ensuring that every dish meets quality standards and that food is handled and stored properly. Responsibilities also include maintaining organized workspaces, monitoring food temperatures, performing quality checks, and communicating supply needs to supervisors. This position requires someone who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer service to residents, guests, and fellow staff.

Physical demands and working conditions require the Line Cook to stand and walk for most of their shift, lift up to 30 pounds, and operate safely around kitchen equipment and chemicals. This role is perfect for individuals with some prior food service or cooking experience seeking part-time hours in a nurturing community setting. The Village offers competitive compensation based on experience along with career growth opportunities, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, as well as employee recognition, referral bonuses, tuition reimbursement, and scholarship programs. Join The Village at Gainesville team to make a meaningful difference in the lives of senior residents through exceptional quality meals and compassionate service.
