Job Description
The Village at Gainesville is a respected senior living community dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment for older adults. Located in Gainesville, Florida, a city known for its quality of life and proximity to the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, The Village offers a vibrant and supportive setting for both residents and staff. Spanning a 104-acre campus with a variety of amenities, The Village facilitates a rich lifestyle where residents are treated not as guests but as valued members of a close-knit community. This approach emphasizes respect, compassion, and personalized care, making The Village a leading choice for senior living in the region. The community is committed to fostering a culture that supports career growth, competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a dedication to excellence throughout its team.
The Line Cook position at The Village plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences aligned with the community’s Culinary Promise. This six-pillar program emphasizes the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients including high-quality beef varieties like Black Angus, Kobe, and American Wagyu, alongside organic produce and healthier meal options labeled Better 4U. The Line Cook works closely with the Executive Sous Chef and Production Supervisor, focusing on preparing cold appetizers, salads, and garnishes that meet strict quality, safety, and sanitation standards. This part-time role offers less than 30 hours per week with restaurant hours from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM, notably avoiding late nights.
This role is designed for individuals with a passion for cooking and serving seniors, who are attentive to detail, maintain high standards for cleanliness and food safety, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Line Cook ensures that every dish is prepared with precision and care, upholding The Village’s commitment to nutritious and delicious meal offerings. Responsibilities include preparing food safely, performing advance tasks to facilitate meal service, monitoring food temperatures, ensuring quality control, maintaining clean work areas, and communicating effectively with the kitchen team. Additionally, the position requires adherence to local and federal health and safety regulations, maintenance of a neat workstation, and support for resident safety during emergencies.
The ideal candidate will be someone motivated to contribute positively to the community, equipped with prior food service or cooking experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and a meticulous approach to sanitation and safety. The Village at Gainesville also offers a range of benefits including career growth opportunities, competitive pay, comprehensive medical and dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans with company matching, and other employee perks like referral bonuses and tuition reimbursement. This part-time role is a great opportunity for those looking to advance their culinary career in a meaningful and community-focused setting while enjoying reasonable hours and a supportive work environment.
