Torchy's is currently seeking dedicated Line Cooks to join their dynamic kitchen team. The Line Cook role is essential to the heart of the kitchen where all food preparation and cooking take place. In this fast-paced and high-volume setting, Line Cooks will be tasked with mastering several cooking stations including frying, grilling, sautéing, steaming, and taco assembly. The position offers $14 to $15 per hour based on experience, plus tips, as well as a tip share included on top of the hourly wage. Employment is typically full-time with flexible scheduling options to accommodate the needs of the restaurant.

The role requires candidates who can work efficiently under pressure while maintaining the highest food quality and safety standards. Line Cooks at Torchy's play a critical role in ensuring each dish not only meets the company’s meticulous preparation standards but also reaches the guest in a timely, appealing manner. Duties include operating fry stations to produce perfectly crispy items, grilling proteins and taco ingredients to correct temperatures, managing sauté and steam stations to bring out the best flavors and textures, and assembling tacos that meet Torchy’s signature quality.

Job Requirements

  • Must meet state and local requirements for food handler’s certification
  • Certification must be obtained by first day or within location's required timeline
  • Previous experience preferred
  • Open to varied work schedules and hours based on restaurant’s needs
  • Must be able to stand for several hours
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach for objects on shelves at various heights
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to serve guests’ needs with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to have fun

Job Duties

  • Master fry station ensuring all fried items are cooked to perfection with right crispiness and flavor
  • Operate grill station cooking proteins to correct temperature and ensuring each taco ingredient is grilled to perfection
  • Manage sauté station handling various ingredients to create flavorful dishes
  • Operate steam equipment to prepare dishes requiring steaming maintaining proper texture and flavor
  • Assemble and build each taco to order meeting high standards and guest expectations
  • Prepare and cook ingredients on grill, fryer, sauté, and steam stations according to recipes and standards
  • Monitor quality and presentation of each dish ensuring standards before serving
  • Maintain clean and organized workstation ensuring food safety and sanitation at all times
  • Collaborate with back-of-house team members to ensure timely and correct food preparation
  • Assist with stocking and organizing ingredients ensuring kitchen readiness before and during service
  • Operate with urgency during busy periods to meet guest demand while maintaining food quality and presentation
