Job Description

The hiring establishment is a reputable hospitality company known for delivering exceptional food service experiences in a dynamic and customer-focused environment. As a well-established player in the hospitality industry, the company is committed to excellence, sustainability, and employee growth. Its operations emphasize quality guest service, food safety standards, and adherence to health and occupational regulations. Employees here benefit from a vibrant culture that values capability, service-oriented hearts, excellence, agility, and personal accountability.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $19.00 to $21.00, reflecting the importance of the role and the skills required. The job is ideal for individuals looking to develop their culinary careers with clear progression paths leading from Lead Cook to Sous Chef, and eventually to Assistant to the Head Chef. Working in this role means engaging in hands-on food preparation, following rigorous production and portion standards to ensure consistent quality and guest satisfaction.

As a Cook, the main responsibility will center on preparing a variety of food items aligned with production requirements and sustainability standards. You will be required to meticulously follow recipe cards and maintain quality by accurately measuring and preparing ingredients to specified portion sizes. You will also begin food preparation ahead of time but must carefully balance this with estimated needs to avoid overproduction and minimize waste. Managing inventory is crucial; you will be responsible for rotating perishable items based on company date or first-in, first-out (FIFO) standards, ensuring proper storage temperatures, and reporting any shortages or out-of-stock items for your shift.

Part of your operational responsibilities includes maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen. You will operate and clean kitchen tools and equipment according to prescribed guidelines and ensure your workspace complies with health and safety regulations, including wearing protective safety equipment and following MSDS and OSHA standards. The role also involves active participation in food cost control measures by setting up plans to reduce waste, loss, and unnecessary usage, thereby supporting the company's financial sustainability.

The work environment is fast-paced and requires physical resilience as the role involves standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and other physically demanding activities. Flexibility in working hours is necessary, with shifts potentially including holidays and weekends.

This role offers ample benefits including competitive wages, medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401k company match program, life insurance, travel discounts, commuter benefits, employee assistance, wellness programs, and opportunities for educational and professional development. Additionally, the company fosters a supportive environment with referral bonus programs incentivizing employee engagement.

Overall, this position is suitable for motivated candidates seeking to elevate their culinary skills and thrive within a supportive and standards-driven hospitality company that values its employees and maintains a strong commitment to quality and service.
