The role of the Line Cook at Eggs Up Grill is crucial in maintaining the high standards of food preparation and service in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Operating within the restaurant's hours from 6:00am to 2:00pm, the Line Cook works closely with a dedicated culinary team to ensure excellent, delicious, and consistently prepared dishes. This position requires proficiency in cooking recipes across five different kitchen stations, demonstrating versatility and a comprehensive understanding of the menu and kitchen operations. In addition to cooking, the Line Cook assists with food preparation and ingredient stocking, playing a vital role in kitchen organization and readiness.

Food safety is paramount at Eggs Up Grill, and the Line Cook is expected to have a thorough understanding of ServSafe procedures and regulations to guarantee the welfare of customers and team members alike. This includes strict adherence to sanitation and safety standards, daily and weekly maintenance tasks, as well as the accurate completion of temperature logs and checklists. The role demands a positive and professional demeanor, especially during busy and stressful shifts, to foster a supportive team environment that uplifts fellow line cooks and kitchen management.

Job Requirements

  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef/prep cook
  • Familiarity and fluency in kitchen terminology
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, procedures, and equipment
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industry best practices
  • Willingness to pursue ServSafe certification is a plus

Job Duties

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Clean up station and kitchen
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out at high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Complete Temperature Logs and Checklists for daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Participate in all roles in the kitchen as required, including as dishwasher when needed
