The role of Line Cook at Parkwest Casino is crucial in maintaining the high culinary standards for which the establishment is known. The Line Cook will assist the Chef in daily kitchen operations by preparing and presenting a variety of dishes in strict accordance with recipes and established quality standards. The ideal candidate is flexible, able to work well under pressure, and capable of communicating effectively with fellow kitchen staff in often confined spaces.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Proof of employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Successful passing of drug test and background check
  • Active California Food Handlers Certificate/card
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand, and bend at neck for 3 or more hours a day
  • Ability to use hands repetitively for simple and power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling and reaching
  • Tolerate exposure to noise, dust, gas, flames, chemicals, extremes in temperature, humidity or wetness
  • Ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented in accordance with appropriate recipes and presentation on a consistent basis
  • Provide consistent safe and sanitary food storage, preparation and cooking
  • Monitor and control maintenance and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment
  • Recognize and follow quality standards for meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy products and grains, including proper storage
  • Utilize leftovers effectively and control waste
  • Be flexible and able to take direction
  • Work with others as a team player in a small confined space
