The role is that of a food preparation specialist mainly responsible for preparing food items in compliance with production requirements while maintaining strict adherence to guest service and sustainability standards. The position is seasonal, making it suitable for individuals seeking employment during specific months of the year, from late spring to early fall. This role requires a careful balance of culinary precision and operational efficiency, ensuring food quality is consistent and meets recipe and portion standards across the board.

As a food preparation staff member, you will be tasked with managing advance preparation of food items without excess, monitoring and dating all food containers to ensure freshness and adherence to safety standards, and rotating stock according to company policies. The role demands vigilance in checking pars for each shift, preparing necessary food items, and organizing line setups efficiently while noting shortages or inventory issues proactively. Returning unused food to the proper storage with appropriate labeling and covering is an essential part of the job to minimize waste and extend product shelf life.

Additionally, you will participate actively in managing food cost challenges by assisting with action plans and controlling food wastage. Operating kitchen tools and equipment with proper maintenance and cleanliness is a daily expectation, ensuring a safe and hygienic work environment. Safety is paramount in this role, and you will be expected to follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with OSHA and MSDS guidelines. The ability to perform additional assigned duties by management highlights the role's flexibility and collaborative nature.

Job Duties

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards
  • Begin food items that are prepared ahead of time making sure not to over-prepare estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate per company standards making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use determine necessary preparation freezer pull and line set-up Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Return all food items not used on the next shift to designated storage areas being sure to cover and date all perishables
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems and control food waste loss and usage per company standards
  • Operate maintain and properly clean kitchen tools and equipment
  • Practice safe work habits wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
