Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Culinary arts or culinary apprenticeship preferred
- One or more years of experience cooking in a fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchen preferred
- One or more years of experience with scratch cooking preferred
- Sauté and/or broiler experience preferred
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language in order to direct, manage, hire and train kitchen staff, complete requisitions, read recipes and communicate with other employees as well as residents and their guests
- Sufficient manual dexterity of hands and arms in order to use all kitchen equipment and utensils (e.g. knives, spoons spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc.)
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously without sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift or carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform all essential functions within varying temperature ranges

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food items following community standards and recipes
- Control quality and quantity of food prepared at the station
- Model The Sterling Touch® by providing professional, friendly, courteous, helpful, and timely service
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and communicate effectively with residents and guests
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen area
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist in training and mentoring kitchen staff as needed
