Job Requirements
- Promote and act consistently with Vintage Tavern’s mission
- Take and record food and storage area temperatures
- Inspect and maintain sanitary food preparation and serving areas
- Ensure proper food storage and cooking temperatures
- Check freshness and rotate stock regularly
- Properly label and discard prepared foods
- Comply with restaurant portion sizes and cooking methods
- Report food specification discrepancies to Manager
- Maintain sufficient food stock at line stations
- Handle and rotate food products appropriately
- Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking
- Maintain hot food temperatures above 140 degrees Fahrenheit
- Season and cook food according to recipes
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam various foods
- Portion and garnish food as per standards
- Observe and test foods for doneness
- Follow plate presentation and garnish setup
- Prepare fruits and vegetables for consumption
- Carve and trim meats for service
- Assist in food prep during off-peak times
- Substitute or assist other cooks during busy periods
- Close the kitchen following established checklist
- Check out with Manager at end of shift
- Attend employee meetings and provide improvement suggestions
- Coordinate with team to meet guest needs
- Fill in for employees as necessary
- Consult supervisory staff for menu and special planning
- Estimate food needs and procure accordingly
- Check party sheets and prepare food as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a cook or similar role in a restaurant environment
- Knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and health and safety rules
- Ability to follow recipes and portion sizes accurately
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
