Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its dedication to providing exceptional guest experiences and fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. Operating more than 100 properties worldwide under its JW Marriott luxury brand, the company emphasizes the importance of its employees, considering them integral to its success and the satisfaction of its guests. Marriott International's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is central to its employment practices, welcoming associates from various backgrounds and ensuring equal opportunities for all. The company actively cultivates a workplace where associates are encouraged to grow, develop, and express their unique skills and passions in a collaborative and respectful setting.

This position is a part-time, seasonal opportunity based at the JW Marriott located at 2700 Mission College Blvd, Santa Clara, California. The role is non-managerial and focuses on the food and beverage sector, specifically bartending, with a pay rate of $22.00 per hour plus tips. The role requires availability for evening shifts, weekends, and holidays through December 2026.

As a Bartender at JW Marriott, the role transcends the basic preparation and mixing of beverages. The expectation is to create a memorable and unique experience for guests by continuously staying informed about new trends and micro-local offerings that align with guests' evolving preferences. Bartenders at JW Marriott take ownership beyond the bar, acting as hosts and ambassadors of guest service throughout the hotel. They are responsible for ensuring the bar operates flawlessly, maintaining cleanliness, presentation, and inventory management. The role demands a keen attention to detail in handling monetary transactions, delivering quality drinks, and providing accurate information to guests.

Bartenders interact closely with other departments and the local community to anticipate and fulfill guests' needs proactively. The position is physically demanding, requiring individuals to be on their feet, moving, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and performing various physical activities such as reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping. Additionally, the job emphasizes the importance of creating a safe workplace, adhering to company policies and procedures, protecting company assets, maintaining confidentiality, and presenting a professional appearance at all times.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of relevant work experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a passion for exceptional guest service. Preferred availability includes evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the busy hospitality schedule. The position does not require supervisory experience or specific certifications.

Joining Marriott International means becoming part of a prestigious global team that values innovation, collaboration, and personal growth. At JW Marriott, associates enjoy various opportunities for training, development, recognition, and career advancement within a luxury hospitality environment. The company culture centers on holistic well-being and treating employees with the same exceptional care that they provide to guests, known as The JW Treatment. This ethos fosters a workplace where employees feel they belong, can contribute meaningfully, and become the best versions of themselves.
