With a strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional growth, BluePearl offers a collaborative environment where veterinary professionals can thrive while making a meaningful impact on pets and their owners. Recognized for its commitment to employee well-being, BluePearl provides comprehensive benefits and foster a family-like culture that supports teamwork, professional advancement, and personal growth.
The role of a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the Surgery department at BluePearl Pet Hospital is a dynamic and rewarding position ideal for skilled technicians passionate about surgical and anesthetic care for animals. This full-time position offers an hourly pay range of $30.00 to $51.00, dependent on experience and progression through a competency assessment tool. Candidates holding VTS credentialing are eligible for commensurate compensation. Additionally, the position includes competitive shift differential pay based on hours worked during nights and weekends, with minimum shift differentials of $4.50 to $8.00 per hour depending on the shift timing.
As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will perform physical exams including vital sign assessments such as heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, and respiratory effort. You will be responsible for intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and operating anesthetic equipment while maintaining strict protocols. The role also involves setting up intravenous fluids and CRIs, troubleshooting errors with fluid pumps, and managing patient monitoring throughout surgery phases including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op recovery.
Your continuous professional development will be encouraged through advanced anesthetic skills training, such as epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and managing critical cases. You will assist veterinarians by formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs and handling anesthesia monitoring and necessary interventions. In addition to direct patient care, your responsibilities will also encompass appointment management, medical record keeping, invoicing, and ensuring smooth patient discharges.
BluePearl’s culture promotes growth and leadership development, providing associates with talent development programs, leadership workshops, and access to BluePearl University for ongoing veterinary training. The hospital also supports employee well-being with comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options, flexible scheduling, paid time off, parental leave, and a regional licensed social worker guidance program to maintain a healthy lifestyle in a fast-paced environment. BluePearl fosters a respectful, inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and non-discrimination. This role requires applicants to be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
