The Lead Software Engineer, Menu Platform role at Subway is a crucial hands-on technical leadership position focused on re-architecting and modernizing the menu platform foundational to Subway's vast restaurant network. This platform drives every facet of the menu experience—from promotions to pricing to customer orders—across numerous digital and in-store channels delivering billions of dollars in annual sales. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript including Node.js, React, and React Native, as well as experience with service-oriented backend architectures and frameworks like NestJS. Proven experience in modernizing mature applications—rewriting legacy systems and migrating functionalities—is critical. Additionally, an interest and demonstrated practical use of AI tools to enhance development efficiency will be highly valued. The role demands strong leadership skills capable of setting technical direction and mentoring engineering teams to enhance their craft. The position provides a competitive salary ranging from $138,300 to $172,900 annually, reflecting skills, experience, education, and location.
