Job Description

The role of Food Service Supervisor at Sisters of Charity Hospital entails promoting and maintaining a positive service culture within the department. The supervisor directs various departmental activities including food preparation, production, assembly, service, and distribution of meals. This role primarily focuses on ensuring that standardized recipes and menus are adhered to, while also maintaining strict safe food handling practices. The Food Service Supervisor organizes the cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, equipment, and small wares, ensuring that all health and safety standards are consistently met. The position involves the operation of cash registers and specialized kitchen equipment such as pizza ovens and grills. The supervisor provides critical input to the Production Manager and Food Supervisor regarding shift operations, contributing to continuous operational improvements. This role requires strong leadership abilities as the supervisor guides other associates and fosters a team-oriented environment. Effective communication, good analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to perform basic math functions are essential for success in this position. Experience and customer service skills play an important part, especially in managing cash register operations and interacting efficiently with patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
