We are currently seeking a dedicated Food Services Supervisor to join our team full-time with a pay rate of USD 18.00 per hour. This role is essential for the day-to-day management of our food services department, providing critical oversight that ensures nutritional adequacy and high standards in meal preparation and service. The Food Services Supervisor will be responsible for supervising workers engaged in preparing and serving food, coordinating closely with dietary consultants, and ensuring the proper use of adaptive equipment for food consumption. Key responsibilities include creating and submitting varied menus that accommodate modified and special diets, conducting pricing audits to maintain cost-effectiveness, and working collaboratively with RN supervisors about dietary orders prescribed by physicians.
This position demands an individual who is proactive in training both new and existing dietary staff, ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards, and facilitating in-service training sessions at least annually. The supervisor acts as a vital link between dietary staff, administrative teams, and families, serving on committees related to health, safety, and infection control. Responsibilities also include maintaining adequate food and supply inventories, scheduling, staff evaluations, and timely disciplinary actions. The ideal candidate will embody leadership qualities that promote teamwork and efficiency, with a steadfast commitment to providing excellent nutritional services within a supportive residential setting. Note that this position requires a Level 2 background screening in accordance with Florida state guidelines. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One years of supervisory experience preferred
- One year experience working in a cafeteria/institutional kitchen preferred
- Ability to conduct pricing audits
- Skilled in creating and submitting nutritionally balanced menus
- Ability to train staff in dietary procedures and health and safety standards
- Ability to develop written policies and procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals
Job Qualifications
- One years of supervisory experience preferred
- One year experience working in a cafeteria/institutional kitchen preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Some college coursework or vocational school preferred
Job Duties
- Supervises workers engaged in preparing and serving food
- Ensures adaptive equipment necessary for food consumption is available
- Works closely with dietary consultants
- Establishes quality standards for planning, preparing, and food yield
- Creates and submits menus that assure nutritional adequacy and variety, including modified diets and special diets
- Conducts pricing audits annually to ensure cost effectiveness
- Works closely with RN supervisor regarding dietary orders prescribed by the physician
- Recommends and/or orders food and other supplies used by the dietary department and ensures adequate quantities are on hand
- Provides training to all new staff
- Holds in-service training on specific dietary programs at least annually
- Trains dietary staff in the implementation of dietary procedures and health and safety standards
- Assists in training staff and individuals about good nutrition and dietary goals
- Develops written policies and procedures defining the use of acceptable dietary programs
- Serves as the team member for completing assessments in accordance with the service plan schedules
- Functions as a consultant to staff and families
- Serves on health, safety, infection control, and other assigned committees
- Attends administrative meetings and communicates with staff to enhance the flow of information
- Ensures positions are filled in a timely manner
- Provides dietary schedule to the timekeeper
- Ensures staff coverage
- Develops departmental work schedules
- Completes evaluations and disciplinary actions in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
