The position at hand is that of Food Services Supervisor within ResCare Community Living’s food services department. This role carries significant responsibility for overseeing the preparation and serving of food within the organization. The supervisor is charged with day-to-day management duties that ensure food services operate efficiently and align with established quality standards. Central to this role is the supervision of workers involved in food preparation and service to guarantee a smooth operation that meets nutritional and safety requirements. The Food Services Supervisor collaborates closely with dietary consultants to devise menus that not only provide nutritional adequacy but also include variations such as modified and special diets tailored to the unique needs of individuals served by ResCare. They establish quality standards encompassing food planning, preparation, and yield to maintain excellence in all aspects of food service delivery. Financial oversight is critical, with responsibilities including annual pricing audits to confirm cost-effectiveness. Coordination with nursing staff ensures that physician-prescribed dietary orders are implemented accurately, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the role. Resource management is also a key duty, from recommending and ordering food and supplies to maintaining proper inventory levels.
An emphasis on continuous staff development and training is integral to this leadership role. The supervisor arranges for and participates in in-service training annually and provides training for new staff recruits. The role further encompasses policy development, working in conjunction with the Administrator to design and document policies and procedures related to dietary programs. Other managerial responsibilities include employee scheduling, ensuring adequate staff coverage, conducting evaluations, and managing disciplinary actions timely. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year supervisory experience preferred
- One year experience working in a cafeteria or institutional kitchen preferred

Job Duties
- Ensures adaptive equipment necessary for food consumption is available
- Works closely with dietary consultants
- Establishes quality standards for planning, preparing, and food yield
- Creates and submits menus that assure nutritional adequacy and variety, including modified diets and special diets
- Conducts pricing audits annually to ensure cost effectiveness
- Works closely with RN supervisor regarding dietary orders prescribed by the physician
- Recommends and/or orders food and other supplies used by the Dietary Department and ensures adequate quantities are on hand
- Obtains in-service training at least annually
- Provides training to all new staff
- Holds in-service training on specific dietary programs as needed, but not less than annually
- Trains dietary staff in the implementation of dietary procedures and health and safety standards
- Assists in training staff and individuals about good nutrition and dietary goals
- Confers with the Administrator in the development of policies, procedures and other written documentation as appropriate
- Develops written policies and procedures defining the use of acceptable dietary programs
- Serves as the Team for completing assessments in accordance with the Service Plan schedules
- Functions as a consultant to staff and families
- Serves on Health, Safety, Infection Control, and other assigned committees
- Attends administrative meetings and communicates with staff to enhance the flow of information
- Serves on other committees as required
- Ensures positions are filled in a timely manner
- Provides dietary schedule to the Timekeeper
- Ensures staff coverage
- Develops departmental work schedules
- Completes evaluations and disciplinary actions in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
