The role available at Spice House Buckhead is for a full-time Lead Chef position offering $25.00 to $31.25 per hour with a flexible schedule. This leadership role requires flexible availability, including mornings, brunch, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and periods of high-volume service. The Lead Chef is a hands-on role, involved deeply in the kitchen operations, expected to lead by example and work alongside the culinary team during service. As the Lead Chef, you will supervise daily kitchen operations with a focus on excellence in food quality, consistency, presentation, cleanliness, and efficient execution.

This position demands a skilled professional who understands the intricacies of running a disciplined, high-volume kitchen environment. The Lead Chef will be responsible for managing ticket flow, overseeing food preparation and production, monitoring inventory and food costs, enforcing food safety standards, and stepping into any culinary station when necessary. They will also train, coach, and develop kitchen staff, ensuring that the restaurant’s high standards are met consistently across all shifts.

The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-driven, and solutions-oriented. Leadership qualities such as clear communication with both the back of house and front of house teams, organization, and accountability are paramount for success. Job Requirements

  • Flexible availability including mornings, brunch, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and high-volume service periods

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of professional kitchen experience strongly preferred
  • previous experience as a lead chef, sous chef, kitchen manager, lead cook, or similar culinary leadership role strongly preferred
  • proven experience leading a high-volume restaurant kitchen
  • strong line-cooking skills with the ability to confidently work multiple stations
  • experience with grill, saute, fry, and high-volume food production preferred
  • Caribbean, Southern, seafood, upscale casual, or similar restaurant experience is a plus
  • strong knowledge of recipe execution, portion control, food production, and plating
  • strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures
  • experience training, coaching, and supervising kitchen employees
  • experience with inventory, food-cost control, waste reduction, and product rotation
  • ability to organize prep and production based on anticipated business volume
  • strong communication, leadership, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • ability to remain professional, decisive, and focused during high-pressure service periods
  • must be dependable, punctual, accountable, and team-oriented

Job Duties

  • Lead daily kitchen operations during assigned shifts
  • oversee preparation and service for brunch, dinner, and other scheduled service periods
  • lead and supervise line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, and other BOH team members
  • run the line during high-volume service and maintain control of kitchen execution
  • coordinate grill, saute, fry, pantry, prep, and other stations to ensure complete orders are prepared and plated together
  • monitor ticket times and quickly identify and correct service bottlenecks
  • ensure all menu items are prepared according to approved recipes, portions, cooking methods, and presentation standards
