The Lead Cashier (LC) plays a pivotal role within the Ulta Beauty team, responsible for ensuring the efficiency and excellence of guest transactions and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and aesthetics at the cashwrap area. This role requires a balance of guest service excellence, operational expertise, and leadership capabilities. The LC supports the store’s goals by driving performance in sales, loyalty programs, and guest experiences. An experienced cashier, the Lead Cashier also helps to train new cashiers and cross-train other associates, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment. The position demands a proactive leader who can influence peers positively and engage guests enthusiastically to promote Ulta Beauty’s loyalty initiatives. The LC manages important daily processes such as opening and closing registers, conducting associate exit inspections, and ensuring compliance with company operating procedures, all while maintaining an inviting and well-organized cashwrap area.

The role also entails a strong focus on guest engagement, where the LC ensures guests are greeted warmly, their needs are personalized, and product or service recommendations are made to enhance the shopping experience. The Lead Cashier acts as a catalyst in driving loyalty results through education about the guest loyalty program and credit options. Beyond service, the LC is responsible for upholding store operational standards, including inventory control, loss prevention, and safety, which support the overall health of the business. The role requires continuous professional development, with the Lead Cashier staying informed about industry trends, product knowledge, and service innovations to better serve guests and support the team’s success. Job Requirements

work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
must be 18 years of age or older
ability to continuously move throughout the store during the shift
frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, twisting, and reaching during shift
frequent lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds
ability to coordinate and manipulate objects continuously during shift

Job Qualifications

high school diploma preferred
two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service
competency in selling
experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally
demonstrated experience in exceeding sales goals
experience in training new hires
proficient with basic technology including Point of Sale systems and Apple devices
excellent written and verbal communication skills
strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

contribute to meeting or exceeding the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink
ensure that each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service to their needs, and recommending products and services
courteously handle sales, refunds, and exchanges
ensure each guest receives service by pairing them with an associate for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations
book appointments and support in-store events to deliver guest experiences while meeting sales goals
take ownership over the replenishment, organization, and maintenance of cashwrap displays and supplies
support leadership by completing cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections
assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering
drive cashier accountability in delivering an exceptional personalized brand experience
adhere to company policies and procedures including dress code and compliance standards
complete select register open and close functions
maintain outstanding store standards and cleanliness throughout the store
protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring compliance with operating procedures
participate in ongoing training for professional development
collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business
